Sharad Pawar Hospitalized in Pune for Mild Dehydration; Condition Stable

Sharad Pawar, the 85-year-old Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president and Rajya Sabha MP, was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic (RHC) in Pune on Sunday due to mild dehydration, hospital officials confirmed.Dr. Purvez Grant, chief cardiologist and chairman of Ruby Hall Clinic, reassured that Pawar’s condition is stable and there is no cause for concern. “He was admitted this morning with mild dehydration. There are no other major medical issues.
A CT scan and blood tests have been conducted, and all reports are normal,” Dr. Grant said.This comes shortly after Pawar was previously admitted to the same hospital on February 9 for chest congestion and breathing difficulties. He was successfully treated and discharged on February 14 after six days of care.Alongside Dr. Grant, consultant physicians Dr. Abhijit Lodha and Dr. Simon Grant are overseeing Pawar’s treatment.
Dr. Grant added that Pawar has been given intravenous fluids and antibiotics as a precaution. “He has a mild cough and vomiting, but nothing serious. The earlier infection has fully resolved. We expect him to be discharged in a couple of days,” he stated.
Supriya Sule, Pawar’s daughter and Baramati MP, who is by his side at the hospital, posted on X: “We are admitting Baba to Ruby Hall, Pune, for follow-up tests and hydration. Thankful to all the doctors and healthcare workers.”Vittal Maniyar, a close associate of Sharad Pawar, clarified that the admission is part of a routine check-up.
“He had previously undergone treatment for over a week and remained on medication after discharge. All his test reports are normal, and he is in good health. He has come to the hospital for rest and a checkup,” Maniyar said.
