Flood Chaos in Nagpur: Homes Submerged, Rescue Operations Ongoing in Narasala

Its been pouring since three days in Nagpur making all chaos in the city. Just today in the early hours today, a massive tree fell near Alex Hospital, completely blocking the road. Emergency teams responded swiftly, clearing the obstruction and restoring traffic flow by dawn, minimizing disruption for commuters.
However, the most severe impact continues in the Sakardara zone. In Somwaripeth’s Cotton area (No. 02/67), heavy flooding struck the residence of Nilesh Gawhane due to a severe drain blockage. Civic workers have launched dewatering operations, but stagnant water levels remain high, keeping the situation tense and challenging for residents.
Meanwhile, in Mangaldip Nagar, flooded streets and stranded locals have once again exposed the city’s fragile stormwater management system. Visuals from the area reveal extensive waterlogging, underscoring the urgent need for infrastructure improvements. Various media groups have updated on social media:

A dramatic rescue operation is currently underway in Narasala, near the cremation ground, where several people are reportedly trapped by rapidly rising floodwaters. The Nagpur Fire Department has deployed rescue teams equipped with boats and safety gear, working tirelessly to evacuate those stranded and bring them to safety.
Authorities have urgently appealed to residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to stay indoors and avoid venturing into flooded streets. Emergency helplines have been activated, and Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s disaster response teams remain on high alert, closely monitoring the situation.
With the India Meteorological Department forecasting further rainfall, concerns are growing over worsening waterlogging and potential health hazards due to sewage overflow. Citizens are calling for permanent solutions to the chronic drainage problems to prevent further damage to lives and properties as the city faces ongoing flood risks.
