Bomb Threat: 18 Schools in Nagpur Announced Holiday as a Precautionary Measure

As many as 18 schools in Nagpur declared a holiday on Monday as a precautionary measure following a bomb threat sent via email.

The threat message was received directly by the District Collector’s office on August 19. The email specifically threatened to detonate explosive devices at 18 named schools as well as the district collectorate office on August 31. Taking no chances with the safety of students and staff, the administrative authorities and management of the listed institutions decided to keep the campuses closed for the day.

Following the receipt of the email, authorities immediately mobilized emergency protocols. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) thoroughly searched all 18 school premises and the district collectorate building to sweep for explosive devices or objectionable items. After extensive inspections across all locations, the squads confirmed that nothing suspicious was found, effectively clearing the site.

Despite the threat turning out to be a hoax, local authorities are taking no chances. Security measures across all 18 affected schools and the Nagpur District Collectorate have been significantly beefed up to ensure complete safety and prevent potential disruptions. Armed security personnel and local police teams have been deployed to monitor the surroundings and maintain vigilance.

Meanwhile, the Nagpur Police Administration has actively issued a public statement urging citizens, parents, and school authorities to stay calm and refrain from spreading unverified information. The administration appealed to the general public not to pay heed to or believe any rumors regarding the incident, assuring everyone that the situation is fully under control and a thorough investigation is underway to track down the origin of the threatening email.
