Book Launch of The History of Waqf in India Held at Islamic Cultural Centre, Nagpur

Nagpur, — The book The History of Waqf in India, authored by Syed Obaidur Rahman from New Delhi, was officially launched yesterday at the Islamic Cultural Centre, Nagpur. The event, organized by the Vidarbha Intellectual Forum, attracted over 150 attendees.The program was presided over by Justice Zaqa Haque and featured several distinguished guests, including Sameer Siddiqui (IAS Coach, Delhi) and Shrimant Mane, Editor of Lokmat.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Advocate Firdous Mirza Sb, who represented the Forum. He introduced the author and his work, emphasizing the significance of Waqf in India’s socio-cultural and legal history.Following this, the dignitaries jointly unveiled the book in front of the audience.
Author Syed Obaidur Rahman offered an in-depth overview of his research, highlighting how the history of Waqf in India spans centuries, shaped by the contributions of various Muslim rulers across different regions and sects. He also discussed the recent Waqf Amendment Act, contextualizing it within this extensive tradition.
Adding depth to the discussion, Sameer Siddiqui shared his perspectives, elaborating on how the history of Waqf ties into contemporary governance, legal frameworks, and community welfare.The event concluded with the promotion and sale of the book, which was made available at a significantly discounted price to ensure accessibility for all attendees.
