Deekshabhoomi to Host “Bhimsrushti” and German Hangar Shelters for Dhammachakra Pravartan Din
With lakhs of devotees expected to gather at Deekshabhoomi for Dhammachakra Pravartan Din on October 20, the Maharashtra state government has initiated extensive preparations. The plan includes setting up a special “Bhimsrushti” showcase focused on constitutional literature. Dr. Harshdeep Kamble, Principal Secretary of the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department, chaired a review meeting at the Divisional Commissioner’s office to outline the security and logistical measures, following directives from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Upgraded Shelter and Visitor Facilities
To accommodate the massive footfall, authorities are constructing German hangar-style shelters equipped with lighting, fans, coolers, and clean bedding. Each shelter will be named after key milestones in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s life, with the Bhimsrushti exhibition curated around them. Additional amenities include a dedicated grievance redressal center, a “Hirkani” room for nursing mothers, a safe children’s play area, and designated resting spaces for women, children, and senior citizens.
Health, Sanitation, and Public Safety Measures
Comprehensive healthcare services will be deployed on-site, including a full medical unit, mobile hospitals, ambulances, and adequate medicine supplies. Sanitation teams will carry out regular cleaning, disinfectant application, anti-mosquito spraying, and the installation of mobile toilets and dustbins across the venue.
To maintain law and order, a robust police bandobast, a specialized women’s safety squad, fire brigade teams, and a 24/7 central control room will be actively deployed. Public communication and crowd control will be managed through dedicated emergency helplines, clear directional signage, and an extensive public announcement system.
The high-level review meeting was attended by Nagpur Collector Kumar Ashirwad along with senior police and administrative officials to ensure seamless coordination across all departments.
