IMD Issues Orange Alert for Nagpur and Four Vidarbha Districts Amid Heavy Rainfall

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Nagpur and four other districts in eastern Vidarbha, warning residents of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. This weather system, which has already impacted Maharashtra for over a week, is expected to persist for the next four days across several regions, including Vidarbha, Marathwada, North and Central Maharashtra, the Ghats, and the Konkan coast.
Persistent Rainfall in Vidarbha
While rainfall has eased somewhat in Mumbai, Konkan, and Pune, Vidarbha continues to experience relentless downpours. Over the past three days, heavy rain has caused significant disruption to daily life across many parts of the region.
Alert Levels Across Vidarbha Districts
The IMD’s regional center has specifically issued an Orange Alert for Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli, signaling the likelihood of intense to extremely heavy rainfall today. In contrast, a Yellow Alert has been declared for other Vidarbha districts—Buldhana, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal, Amravati, and Wardha—indicating moderate rainfall is expected in these areas.Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions as the heavy rains continue to affect Vidarbha and surrounding regions.
