Infosys Pune Advises Employees to Bring Food from Home, Avoid Campus Events Amid LPG Shortage

Amid the ongoing LPG shortage in India caused by the West Asia conflict, Infosys Pune has issued an advisory urging employees to bring food from home and avoid organizing events on campus that require catering. The company informed employees that all food courts on campus will temporarily operate with a limited menu due to restricted LPG supplies.

An email from the Infosys Pune canteen committee, shared with The Indian Express, explained that government guidelines have led to controlled distribution of LPG across sectors, impacting commercial food and beverage operations nationwide. The advisory noted, “Food court vendors are receiving reduced LPG supplies, limiting their ability to operate at full capacity despite sincere efforts.

Some cooked food will be sourced externally from vendors’ central kitchens, and there is an increased use of electrical appliances and biofuels for cooking.”Infosys is closely monitoring the situation, maintaining regular coordination with LPG suppliers and food court operators to manage the crisis. The LPG shortage has affected various sections of society, with many commercial food services facing disruptions.

Earlier reports highlighted that several mess owners in Pune’s Peth areas, serving outstation students preparing for competitive exams like MPSC and UPSC, have had to shut down due to cylinder unavailability. An Infosys employee, speaking anonymously, shared with The Indian Express: “The Pune campus has multiple large food courts, but food options have been reduced.

We’ve been advised to bring food from home to help reduce crowding and long queues at the limited food outlets.”This step by Infosys aims to ease pressure on food services and ensure smooth operations during the ongoing LPG supply constraints.
