Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Standing Committee Chairperson Shivani Dani has put an end to rumors regarding alleged entry fees for Nagpur’s historic Marbat festival, confirming that spectators will not be required to pay any entry fee to watch the public celebrations.
The official clarification follows widespread rumors on social media claiming that attendees would need to purchase tickets priced at ₹500 and ₹750 to access the event. Speaking on the matter, Dani stated that these claims are entirely incorrect and reaffirmed that the iconic Marbat procession will remain completely free and open to the public. She emphasized that the NMC has not introduced any ticketing mechanism, allowing citizens to view the traditional procession without purchasing entry passes.
Addressing additional details surrounding the event, Dani explained that printed T-shirts associated with the Marbat celebrations will be made available for purchase during the festival. However, she clarified that buying these T-shirts is strictly optional and holds no bearing on entry to the festival grounds or procession routes.
The clarification aims to relieve public confusion caused by the misleading posts circulating online. The Marbat festival, deeply rooted in Nagpur’s local cultural heritage, draws thousands of attendees each year. Featuring the traditional processions of Kali Marbat and Pili Marbat alongside creatively crafted tableaux addressing contemporary social and political themes, the festival remains a major regional attraction.
