MSEDCL goes for a Massive Crackdown Cutting down 21,000+ Power Lines of Delinquents

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has launched a massive recovery drive across the Nagpur circle, resulting in the disconnection of over 21,000 power lines in just over two weeks. This crackdown, which began on March 1, 2026, targets habitual defaulters who have failed to clear their dues despite receiving multiple reminders.
As of March 16, exactly 21,308 consumers in the Nagpur and Wardha districts saw their electricity cut. The utility company is taking a firm stance to recover pending payments before the end of the financial year. To ensure the drive is effective, senior officials like Chief Engineer Dilip Dodke and Superintending Engineer Amit Paranjape are personally supervising field operations, with a particular focus on commercial and industrial users.
The strict measures are already showing results. MSEDCL officials confirmed that 13,644 consumers quickly paid their outstanding bills after receiving disconnection notices, leading to the immediate restoration of their power. However, authorities are warning that those who wait until the last minute will face extra costs, including late fees, interest, and reconnection charges.
With the summer heat approaching and the financial year-end nearing, MSEDCL is urging all consumers to clear their bills promptly. Waiting until the deadline could lead to technical delays or a rush at payment centers, resulting in uncomfortable power cuts. Consumers are encouraged to use the official mobile app or authorized centers to settle their dues and avoid the inconvenience of a disconnected line.
