MSEDCL to Host Smart Meter Awareness & Grievance Camps on July 8

To combat rising social media misinformation regarding Smart Time-of-Day (ToD) electricity meters, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) is organizing massive consumer awareness and grievance redressal camps.
- Date: July 8
- Time: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
- Locations: All MSEDCL sub-divisions across Nagpur and Wardha districts, alongside 99 rural branch offices.
MSEDCL Chief Engineer Rajesh Naik has urged citizens to ignore rumors, reassuring the public that these meters are highly accurate, transparent, and designed to help lower monthly expenses.
How Smart (ToD) Meters Save You Money
Domestic consumers get an 85 paise per unit discount on electricity used between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Households can actively lower their monthly bills by shifting heavy power-intensive chores (like laundry or water heating) to these designated daytime hours. Similar Time-of-Day meters have been reliably utilized by industrial consumers for years.
Services Available at the Camps
Consumers can directly engage with sub-divisional officers and technical experts to handle the following:
- Billing & Reading Queries: Get face-to-face walkthroughs on how consumption patterns are tracked.
- Dispute Examination: File complaints regarding allegedly excessive bills or suspected meter inaccuracies for technical verification.
- Real-Time Tracking: Learn how to monitor live energy use via the Maha Urja Mitra mobile app.
