The Election Commission of India (ECI) has published the draft electoral roll under its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program for Nagpur district. Following the publication, notices will be issued to 2,65,884 voters across the district to resolve identified discrepancies in their enumeration data.
The extensive door-to-door verification drive took place between June 30 and August 13. During this period, 31,95,078 voters submitted their enumeration forms. However, booth officers were unable to contact 43,511 voters, while another 9,824 individuals failed to submit any information. In total, the published draft electoral roll currently features 43,45,511 registered names across Nagpur district.
Data verification against historical records revealed varying levels of accuracy among registered electors. A total of 6,10,012 voters had their details matched perfectly with the 2002 electoral roll without needing additional mapping. Conversely, 6,17,504 voters were found to have minor discrepancies, such as name misspellings or updated residential addresses, which require formal correction.
Election officials announced that 6,65,886 voters whose submitted forms could not be successfully mapped to the 2002 list within the standard processing window will receive door-step notices. These notices will utilize mobile OTP verification, requiring citizens to submit updated, correct supporting documents to validate their entries. For 431 complex cases currently pending detailed administrative review, formal hearings will be conducted directly before the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).
Residents of Nagpur district are urged to verify their details in the draft roll. Voters can inspect their registration status and file claims or objections by visiting the official Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Maharashtra or ECI voter portals, or by directly contacting their assigned local Booth Level Officer (BLO).
