NMC Vote Counting to Take Place in 10 City Zones on January 16

Following the completion of the nomination process, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is gearing up for the upcoming civic body elections with increased momentum. Polling is scheduled for January 15, and the crucial vote counting will be held the very next day, January 16, across ten designated locations — one in each of the city’s zones.To keep political parties well-informed about the election protocols, the NMC organized a comprehensive meeting at its headquarters.
Chaired by Municipal Commissioner and Returning Officer Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari, the gathering brought together representatives from all contesting parties. The discussions focused on key election arrangements, aiming to ensure a smooth, fair, and transparent process.Vote counting will be executed on a zone-wise basis, reflecting the city’s administrative division. A total of 992 candidates are contesting for various seats in these elections, making the logistical arrangements all the more critical.
The NMC has meticulously planned every aspect of the election process, from polling to counting, to uphold the democratic spirit and maintain transparency.NMC Deputy Commissioner (Elections), Nirbhay Jain, also addressed the meeting, providing detailed updates on the distribution of polling materials, security measures like strong rooms, and the setup of counting centers. He emphasized adherence to the guidelines set by the State Election Commission to maintain orderly conduct throughout the election.
In total, 3,004 polling stations have been established across Nagpur, ensuring voters have convenient access to cast their ballots.
