Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Nagpur–Pune Vande Bharat Express on Sunday by flagging it off via video conferencing. The event took place at Platform No. 8 of Mumbai’s Central Railway Station, with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari in attendance.Several dignitaries, including MLAs Mohan Mate, Krishna Khopde, Praveen Datke, Central Railway General Manager Dharmveer Meena, Divisional Railway Manager Vinayak Garg, and other Central Railway officials, were present to witness the launch. The Prime Minister remotely flagged off the Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune train, marking a significant milestone in enhancing rail connectivity.
In addition to the Nagpur–Pune route, PM Modi also inaugurated the Bengaluru–Belagavi and Katra–Amritsar Vande Bharat Express trains during the same event, expanding the high-speed rail network across the country.The new Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune Vande Bharat Express drastically reduces travel time, allowing passengers to cover the distance in approximately 12 hours—significantly faster than previous options. This improvement will provide a more comfortable and efficient journey for travelers between these key cities.
On its route from Nagpur to Pune, the Ajni–Pune Vande Bharat Express will stop at important stations, including Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Manmad, Kopargaon, Ahilyanagar, and Daund, before reaching its final destination via the Daund chord line.This inauguration marks another step forward in India’s push to modernize its railway infrastructure, enhancing connectivity and boosting regional development.
Ticket prices for the train are set at ₹2,040 for Chair Car and ₹3,725 for Executive Chair Car, providing options for travelers seeking different levels of comfort.The route covers key districts in Maharashtra, including Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, Akola, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, and Pune. This extensive coverage is expected to significantly boost connectivity across these regions and attract more passengers.
