Pune Techie Found Dead in TCS Washroom; Police Confirm Suicide by Phone Charging Wire

A 24-year-old software engineer employed with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was found dead inside a washroom on the company’s premises in Phase 3 of Hinjewadi IT Park, Pune, in the early hours of Tuesday, police reported. The discovery was made around 12:30 am during a routine security check.The deceased has been identified as Sujal Vinod Oswal, a resident of Wanawadi, working the night shift as an IT engineer at TCS.
According to Pimpri Chinchwad police, a security guard noticed the washroom door in the company canteen area was locked from inside. After repeated attempts to get a response failed, the guard alerted company authorities who promptly informed the police. A team from the Hinjewadi police station arrived at the scene.Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II), Vishal Gaikwad, stated that preliminary investigations indicate suicide.
“The victim used a mobile phone charging wire to hang himself inside the washroom,” he confirmed.Early findings suggest Oswal was likely under stress due to financial losses from betting activities. “Before taking the extreme step, he sent a message to his family members,” DCP Gaikwad told TOI. The contents of the message are currently under examination as part of the ongoing probe.
The body was sent for post-mortem examination, which has now been completed. Police are preparing a detailed report and continuing investigations to understand the exact sequence of events leading to the incident.“We will record statements from family members, colleagues, and company officials to gain a clearer picture of the circumstances,” a Hinjewadi police officer said.No foul play is suspected at this time. An accidental death report has been filed, with further action pending the outcome of the investigation.
