SCZCC to Host ‘Taal Utsav’ in Memory of Tabla Maestro Prabhakarrao Desai on January 11

The South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), in collaboration with Taal Sadhana Group Sanstha, will present Taal Utsav to honor the legacy of renowned Nagpur tabla maestro Prabhakarrao Desai. The event is scheduled for 6 PM on January 11 at the Scientific Auditorium, Laxmi Nagar, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The evening will commence with a Kathak dance jugalbandi featuring Purva Kavathekar-Dixit from Sangli and young Kathak artist Mallikarjun from Pune, promising a mesmerizing blend of classical dance styles.Following this, the ‘Taal Arpan’ segment will showcase a group tabla recital by accomplished artists Ram Panke, Om Kukde, Shaurya Dudhnakar, Mandar Mude, and Shreyas Munje.

The grand finale will be a solo tabla performance by Mumbai-based virtuoso Yashwant Vaishnav. An esteemed recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi, the Balshree Award, and the Sangeet Shiromani Samman, Vaishnav trains under maestro Yogesh Samsi and has performed at prestigious music festivals across India and internationally.
