A tragic incident unfolded at Pune’s B J Government Medical College when a 21-year-old second-year MBBS student was found dead in the college hostel on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, with suicide suspected.The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Krushnakumar Meena, originally from Sikar, Rajasthan. According to police reports, Meena left behind a note revealing that she had been undergoing psychiatric treatment for anxiety.
Meena’s body was discovered in a spare room within the Girls’ Hostel located in the Agarkar Nagar area of Pune.Senior Inspector Ravindra Gaikwad of Bundgarden police station explained the initial investigation: “She left her hostel room around 6:30 pm on Tuesday. When she didn’t return and could not be reached, her fellow students and hostel authorities filed a missing person’s complaint at the police station around midnight.
”Shortly after the complaint was lodged, the police received a call from the hostel informing them that Meena had been found dead. “Preliminary findings suggest this is a case of suicide,” Gaikwad added.Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2), Milind Mohite, provided further details, stating, “The note mentioned she had been dealing with anxiety since school days and had been receiving psychiatric care. The investigation is ongoing to understand the full circumstances surrounding her death.”Authorities continue to probe the case to uncover more information about the events leading up to this tragic loss.
