The announcement follows recent public uproar, including a protest staged by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on August 25. The MNS accused authorities of unnecessarily delaying the opening despite the flyover being ready, citing political reasons behind the hold-up. In response to the protest and increased public pressure, police deployed personnel and vans at the site to maintain order.
Subsequently, officials decided to open the flyover for public use.The new double-decker flyover promises to be a game-changer for traffic on Sinhagad Road. It is expected to provide significant relief to daily commuters from areas such as Dhayri, Nanded City, Vadgaon Budruk, Khadakwasla, and Narhe. Officials estimate that the flyover will reduce travel time between Funtime Theatre and Vitthalwadi by 15 to 25 minutes each day. Designed to offer uninterrupted passage over nine busy intersections, the double-decker structure aims to dramatically decrease congestion, making commutes quicker and less stressful for thousands of motorists.
