Social Media Influencer Booked for Harassment of Journalist in Pune

Pune police have registered a case against social media content creator Santosh Pandit following a complaint of sexual harassment filed by a woman television journalist. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon during a protest on Tilak Road near Grahak Peth. The journalist was on-site to cover a demonstration organized by social activist Sangeet Tiwari regarding legal cases against a self-styled godman.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed at the Parvati police station, Pandit arrived at the protest and began using obscene language toward the media personnel present, accusing them of causing a traffic jam. The complainant alleged that Pandit made inappropriate comments regarding her clothing and subjected her to sexual harassment. He also reportedly filmed her without her consent and acted aggressively toward other women protesters at the scene.
The police have booked Pandit under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, including sexual harassment, stalking, criminal intimidation, and performing obscene acts. Senior Inspector Rajendra Sahane, the in-charge of the Parvati police station, confirmed that an official probe into the matter has been launched.
Pandit is well-known on platforms like Instagram and YouTube, where he has a significant following for creating content focused on civic and social issues. This legal development has drawn attention due to his prominent digital presence and the nature of the allegations involving a working professional in the city.
