Swargate-Katraj Expansion Gains Momentum as Pune Metro Begins Segment Casting

Construction of the Swargate-Katraj Pune Metro reached a major goal this Tuesday with the start of “segment casting” for the new elevated route. Shravan Hardikar, the Managing Director of MahaMetro, led the ceremony, marking a huge step forward for the city’s Phase-II metro expansion.

This new extension is designed to completely change how people move around the southern parts of Pune. It will connect the busy Swargate transport hub directly to Katraj, which is a fast-growing area for homes and businesses. Once it is finished, the metro should make traffic much lighter on the crowded Satara Road. It aims to give thousands of daily commuters in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad a faster and more reliable way to travel than using their own cars.

The start of segment casting is a technical milestone because these concrete pieces form the actual bridge the metro travels on. After the event, which included top officials and partners from CEM India, Hardikar inspected the work. He met with technical teams to check their plans and insisted that everyone follow strict rules for safety and high-quality work to keep the project on schedule.

Hardikar noted that this work is a vital part of Pune’s growth. He explained that the new corridor will be key to making city travel easier and cutting down on traffic jams in the south. The project leadership includes Shravan Hardikar along with senior team members Vinod Kumar Agrawal, Harendra Pandey, and Atul Gadgil.
