The Pune City Police registered two separate house-breaking and burglary cases on October 7, reporting thefts that included gold and silver jewelry worth ₹11.70 lakh in Dhanori, along with cash and alcohol from a commercial outlet in Wagholi.
The first incident was reported under the jurisdiction of the Vishrantwadi Police Station following a complaint by 26-year-old Rohit Raosaheb Sonawane, a resident of Mungeshwarvasti in Dhanori. According to the FIR, the burglary occurred between September 26 and October 5 while the house was unattended. Unidentified perpetrators gained entry by picking or breaking the lock on the rear door using an unknown object. Once inside, they broke open a steel cupboard and fled with gold ornaments, silver jewelry, and other valuable items valued at approximately ₹11.70 lakh.
The Vishrantwadi police have booked the unidentified suspects under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deal with lurking house-trespass, house-breaking, and theft in a dwelling house.
In a second incident on the same day, the Lonikand (Wagholi) police registered a burglary case following a break-in at a liquor store located inside the Platinum Business Hub in Wagholi. The culprits reportedly broke open the shop’s front shutter during the night to gain entry. Once inside, they stole ₹5,000 in cash from the counter along with beer stock valued at ₹2,720, bringing the total stolen property value to ₹7,720.
The police have registered cases under the relevant sections of the BNS for both break-ins, and further investigation is underway to identify the culprits and recover the stolen property.
