Central Railway’s Pune division has announced a 15-day infrastructure block from September 19 to October 4, 2026. The block is necessary to complete engineering, signaling, telecommunication, and overhead electrical work for commissioning the new Hadapsar-Ghorpadi third railway line. The upgrade will significantly impact train operations across the region, leading to cancellations, diversions, short-terminations, and delayed departure times for several passenger services.
The operational changes will mainly affect passengers traveling between Pune, Mumbai, and Solapur, as well as those on long-distance routes passing through Pune yard. Railway authorities strongly advise all commuters to check their train’s live status before heading to stations.
Several key express trains will face full cancellations or route modifications during this period:
- Pune-Solapur Intercity Express (12169/12170): Cancelled from September 19 to 23 and October 3 to 4.
- Pune-Solapur Hutatma Express (12157/12158): Subject to cancellation or short-termination on select dates.
- Solapur-Pune Express (11422): Short-terminated at Hadapsar station on October 3.
Multiple long-distance trains will bypass Pune entirely and take diverted routes:
- Mumbai-Chennai Central Express (22159): Diverted via Kalyan, Igatpuri, Manmad, and Daund from September 19 to 23 and on October 4.
- Nagercoil-LTT Express (16340): Diverted via Solapur, Kurduwadi, Daund, Ahilyanagar, Manmad, Nashik, and Kalyan on September 22 and October 2.
- Bengaluru-CSMT Udyan Express (11302): Faces route diversions and will be short-terminated at Solapur on October 3.
Services originating from or ending at Hadapsar will also see adjustments. The Kazipet-Hadapsar Express (17014/17013) will short-terminate or originate from Daund on multiple dates, and from Kurduwadi on October 3 and 4.
Additionally, several uncancelled trains will run on revised schedules. The Pune-Solapur Hutatma Express will depart Pune later than usual on September 19, 21, and 22. The Satara-Dadar Express will depart Satara at 10:30 PM instead of 3:30 PM on October 3.
Pune Division Railway Spokesperson Hemant Kumar Behera confirmed that while these temporary disruptions cause inconvenience, the third line project remains a vital long-term infrastructure improvement for the region.
