30-Year-Old Pune Techie Electrocuted While Sleeping with Electric Hot Water Bag

A 30-year-old IT engineer tragically lost his life due to electrocution after sleeping with a plugged-in electric hot water bag under his neck in Pune’s Somnath Nagar area in Wadgaon Sheri.

The deceased has been identified as Rohan Kubadi, an unmarried software professional who had been residing alone in a rented apartment in Somnath Nagar for the past three months.

According to the Chandannagar Police, the fatal incident is suspected to have occurred on Tuesday, October 6. However, it came to light two days later on Thursday when neighbours and the landlord noticed a foul odour emanating from the locked flat. After multiple phone calls to Kubadi went unanswered, the house owner unlocked the door and discovered his bloated, decomposed body lying on the bed with traces of blood nearby.

Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Preliminary investigations and forensic assessments suggest that the death was caused by a severe electric shock resulting from a short circuit or leakage in the malfunctioning electric hot water heating pad.
