Environmental Conservation and Tree Plantation Program Successfully Organized

In a proactive effort to combat environmental degradation and foster a sustainable ecosystem, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Nagpur (West) successfully hosted an Environmental Conservation and Tree Plantation Program on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Organized under the theme “Save Nature – Save Life,” the initiative drew strong participation from local residents committed to ecological preservation.

The event commenced at 9:30 a.m. at the Markaze Islami Hall in Teachers Colony, Jafar Nagar, where environmental experts and speakers addressed the pressing climate challenges facing the region. Keynote speakers highlighted the severe threats posed by the indiscriminate felling of trees, rampant plastic pollution, water mismanagement, and ecological imbalances. They warned that skyrocketing seasonal temperatures, rapidly depleting groundwater reserves, and the rise of climate-linked illnesses serve as an urgent wake-up call for collective civic action.

Renowned environmentalist Baba Deshpande (Ritudhvaj Deshpande), popularly known as the “Tree Man of Nagpur,” graced the occasion as the chief guest. He delivered an inspiring appeal, urging every citizen to plant at least one sapling and actively nurture it into a mature tree. Prominent environmental activist Mr. Tanveer Mirza also spoke at the gathering, sharing practical, everyday strategies for environmental stewardship.

Following the seminar, the focus shifted to the field as participants gathered at the Eidgah Ground for a massive plantation drive, sowing saplings of various indigenous plant species. The drive received critical logistical and volunteer backing from the local youth group, Naujawanane Jafar Nagar.

Key Community Directives Launched at the Event:

Afforestation: Planting more trees within residential premises and surrounding neighborhoods.

Plastic Reduction: Phasing out single-use plastics in favor of sustainable alternatives like cloth and jute bags.

Water Security: Implementing household rainwater harvesting systems.

Resource Conservation: Integrating mindful consumption of electricity and water into daily routines.

The program concluded with JIH, Nagpur (West) Unit along with the local group extending its gratitude to the guest speakers, volunteers, and citizens whose active participation turned the green initiative into a meaningful success.
