The historic Indian Coffee House in Sadar, a beloved landmark for over five decades, has been forced to shorten its operating hours due to a severe shortage of cooking gas. The outlet, which typically serves as a bustling hub for intellectuals and professionals until 8:00 PM, is now closing its doors at noon. Staff members confirmed that the decision was made to conserve their limited LPG supply for the busy morning hours when footfall is at its peak.
The management revealed that their usual supply chain has been significantly disrupted. While the kitchen requires approximately three cylinders per day to function fully, they are currently receiving only two cylinders twice a week. Previously, deliveries arrived four times a week, allowing for a steady reserve. With those reserves now completely exhausted, the staff has had to begin declining orders and turning away regular patrons who arrive for their traditional afternoon and evening sessions.
Local regulars have expressed deep concern over the impact on their daily routines. Many who use the coffee house as a regular meeting point for business and socializing, including real estate agents and longtime residents, have called the situation unfortunate. As the gas shortage continues to hit the region, the future of the iconic outlet’s full-day service remains uncertain until the supply chain is restored to its original capacity.
