Nagpur Faces 36-Hour Water Shutdown Affecting One-Third of City

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has announced a major 36-hour water supply disruption scheduled for April 7 and 8, impacting nearly 33% of the city’s population. The shutdown is set to begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 7, and will continue until 10:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8.

The outage is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance at the Pench I, II, III, and IV water treatment plants. Additionally, as part of the AMRUT project, technical teams will install a new valve on a 900 mm diameter feeder main located near the Sadar Fruit Market.

Restoration Timeline

NMC officials have cautioned that while the technical work is slated to end by Wednesday night, actual tap connectivity may take longer to return to normal. Elevated Service Reservoirs (ESRs) across the city will require several hours to refill before full pressure is restored to household connections.

Recommendation: Citizens in the affected zones are strongly advised to store sufficient water in advance and practice strict conservation until regular supply resumes on April 9.
