Nagpur’s Sadiqabad Passport Office Plagued by Poor Infrastructure and Parking Woes

The Regional Passport Office in Nagpur’s Sadiqabad area has come under heavy fire from citizens due to its deteriorating infrastructure and lack of basic amenities. Visitors have described the facility as being “in shambles,” citing a lack of hygiene, non-existent facilities, and a complete failure of logistical planning.

A Logistics Nightmare: From CGO Complex to Narrow Lanes

One of the primary grievances raised by applicants is the relocation of the office itself. Previously situated at the CGO Complex (Central Government Offices Complex) in Seminary Hills—a facility designed specifically to house central departments with ample parking—the office was moved to a congested lane in Sadiqabad. The reasons behind shifting an office with such high footfall to such a narrow approach road remain unexplained.

Critical Infrastructure Failures:

  • Deplorable Parking: While two-wheeler parking is available, the designated four-wheeler area is reportedly overrun with garbage and stray animals, making it unusable.
  • Traffic Congestion & Penalties: With no secure space for cars, visitors are forced to park on the roadside. This not only chokes the narrow lane, causing misery for local residents but also provides an easy target for Traffic Police, who frequently jam tires and penalize owners for “wrong parking.”
  • Sanitation Issues: Shockingly, the waiting hall is reportedly devoid of washroom facilities, leaving visitors—who often stand in long queues for hours—in an extremely difficult position.

A Call for Urgent Intervention

The demand for passports has surged over the last decade as more students and professionals from Nagpur seek global opportunities. Despite this, the current facility fails to reflect the “Smart City” ambitions of the region.

Citizens are now looking toward the Union Government and local leadership for a resolution. With high-profile natives like Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the helm, there is a strong expectation that the office will either be upgraded or shifted back to a more suitable, professional location like the CGO Complex to facilitate smoother operations.
