Pune Hotel Manager Booked After Woman Finds Cockroach in Soup

The manager of a hotel in Pune’s Camp area has been booked after a woman complained about finding a cockroach in the soup served to her.Ashwini Shirsat, 31, from Dapodi, was dining with her family at the hotel on June 16 when she discovered the cockroach in her soup. Upon raising the issue with the hotel staff, she was reportedly met with indifference and a dismissive attitude.
Following this, Shirsat filed a formal complaint at the Lashkar police station.Police have registered an FIR against the hotel manager, Aman Hussain Shaikh, a resident of Azad Nagar, Bhiwandi. Authorities stated that the hotel management failed to maintain proper hygiene standards, putting customers’ health at risk.
“A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officer has been involved in the case. Based on the officer’s report submitted on Thursday, we have filed a case, and investigations are ongoing,” an officer said.
The FIR was filed under sections 125 and 271 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Lashkar police station. Meanwhile, officials have issued a reminder to all hotel and restaurant owners to strictly adhere to food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness to avoid such health hazards.
