In light of traffic restrictions stemming from Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Pune today, The Bishop’s Co-Ed School, Undri has notified parents that the school will remain closed for the day. Online classes will still be held for students in classes 1 to 12, while preschool students will not have any classes today. The decision comes as authorities have announced restricted movement across the city from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM due to the minister’s travel route from Katraj to Uruli Devachi.
Principal Julian Luke issued a circular stating, “As per the traffic department, movement will be restricted between 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM, which is expected to cause significant congestion across the city. In light of this, and to avoid inconvenience for our students returning home late, the school will remain closed.”
Also, Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Pune City Traffic, has directed changes to traffic flow, converting one-way traffic between Mor Odha to Circuit House Chowk to I.B. Chowk into two-way traffic. This adjustment aims to ease congestion during the minister’s visit.
It was also reported that under the jurisdiction of the Kalepadal, Kondhwa, and Bharati Vidyapeeth traffic departments, all goods transport vehicles—including dumpers, mixers, trucks, and other heavy or slow-moving vehicles—will be prohibited from plying on the road between Mantarwadi Phata to Khadi Machine Chowk to Katraj Chowk from 12 noon to 5 PM on July 4.
These measures are intended to ensure smooth traffic conditions during the minister’s visit while prioritizing the safety and convenience of students and residents. Stay tuned to know more about it and others only with us and if you have anything to share do comment below and share your thoughts.
