After nearly seven years of closure due to floods, legal disputes, and a river-widening project, Krazy Castle is set for a grand revival with a completely refreshed look. A senior official has confirmed that the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MahaMetro) will issue an Expression of Interest (EoI) within a week, inviting private players to operate the 6.4-acre amusement park near Ambazari Lake.The EoI is the first step in a two-phase process. Interested operators will inspect the site and submit proposals, after which a formal tender will be issued based on the received responses.
A Mini World Tour in Nagpur
As part of its makeover, MahaMetro has transformed the property into a global-themed attraction featuring replicas of iconic landmarks from around the world. Key highlights include:
- Taj Mahal
- Leaning Tower of Pisa
- Eiffel Tower
- A stunning three-tier East Asian pagoda, blending classical Chinese and Japanese architecture, illuminated with vibrant red lighting.
This unique concept allows visitors to experience a “mini world tour” without ever leaving Nagpur, making it a one-of-a-kind destination.
A Dash of Disney Magic
Adding to its charm, Krazy Castle will also feature a Disney-inspired castle, complete with Gothic-style arches and statues of beloved characters like Mickey Mouse. The aim is to create a space that combines the grandeur of world monuments with a fun, family-friendly vibe, appealing to both adults and children alike.
The Delays: What Took So Long?
The park’s closure and prolonged delay were primarily caused by severe flooding in the area, which led local residents to file a public interest litigation (PIL) with the Bombay High Court Nagpur Bench. The PIL requested remedial measures after the Nag River overflowed near the park.Moreover, legal battles and the city’s river-widening project further delayed Krazy Castle’s reopening.
Improved Accessibility with Metro Connectivity
In its previous tenure, Krazy Castle operated under Haldiram Foods International Pvt Ltd, but accessibility was limited. Now, the park enjoys a major advantage: improved connectivity through the Nagpur Metro.The Dharampeth College Metro Station provides direct access to Krazy Castle, making the park easily reachable from major areas like Hingna, Wardha Road, Sitabuldi, and Cotton Market. This enhanced accessibility is expected to draw larger crowds and make the park a hotspot for both locals and tourists.
