Under the ongoing statewide crackdown led by Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, Ganeshpeth Police have registered a cheating case against two pharmacy partners in Ganjipeth, Nagpur. The accused, Vimal Rajkumar Chandwani and Vicky Rajkumar Chandwani, operators of ‘The Bombay Pharma’ at Sandesh Aushadh Bazaar, were booked following an official complaint filed by FDA Drug Inspector Prashant Rajendra Ramteke.
The action stems from a raid conducted on June 10 after the FDA received a tip-off regarding the illegal sale of ‘Contraskit’, a banned abortion drug. During the search, authorities seized stocks of ‘Contraskit’ alongside ‘Alprazo 0.5’, a prescription-only Schedule H sedative containing Alprazolam. Neither drug could be legally sold without a valid medical prescription, posing severe health risks through potential misuse.
When questioned, the owners failed to produce any purchase invoices or legal documentation for the confiscated stock. Despite a formal notice issued by the FDA, no explanation was submitted by the June 25 deadline. Ganeshpeth Police have now launched an active investigation to trace the supply chain and determine the origin of the illegal pharmaceuticals.
